Believe It Speak It
By: Calvin and Barbara Scott
“…Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, be removed and be cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you. Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Mark 11:22-24.
If our faith in God can be compared to a house then this passage of scripture should be compared to its corner stone. The message in this scripture is not a complex, formulated, hard to figure out message. It all comes down to saying what we believe and believing what we say.
For some people the challenge is, not really being sure of what they believe. They are torn between what the world around them says and what God’s Word says. This can be remedied by spending more time in the Word and less time in the world.
For others the challenge is a lack of enduring patience. This finds its remedy in Hebrews 10:35-39, “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, So that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. For yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back, my soul has no pleasure in him. But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.”
According to Romans 10:10, “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Believing and speaking can save your soul. Being that powerful, it will have no problem moving a mountain.
Our future is not all up to God. In His all sovereign authority He has power to delegate and by His Word has delegated to us the power to move mountains and direct our future by what we believe and what we say. That is what saved our souls and brought our lives over into this faith walk, and continuing to believe and speak according to God’s will, will determine our end.
Know His will by His Word.
Believe it, speak it, and be patient. Your answers are on the way.
Part II
“Now FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see, and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact, what is not revealed to the senses]. Hebrews 11: 1 AMP
Faith is a big world and leads us through a vast multitude of attempts to define it and walk in it. This is a very important challenge because Hebrews 11:6 says, it is impossible to please God without it. So our desire should be toward the learning of faith and how to apply it to our daily lives.
One missionary to South American Indians once defined faith as being like the trust his tribe has in their hammock ropes. (Their custom is to tie the hammock 20’ off the ground.)
I was thinking how the seaman puts so much trust in his ship or how the pilot puts his trust in his aircraft. However, it seems to me that real faith is manifested when the hammock rope breaks and one survives the fall, or when an enemy blows a hole in the ship and the seaman somehow makes it safe to land, or when the pilot safely lands after his motor spits and dies. Like I first said, faith is a big world and as we pursue it we will find it is connected to many things, most of all, how much we trust the Lord, not things. Selah.
It’s the word of faith that welcomes
God to go to work and set things right for us.
Romans 10:9 Message
Say this: God, you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!
Psalms 91:2 Message
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.
Psalms 91:2 NKJ
I say to you, whoever says to this mountain,
Be removed and be cast into the sea,
And does not doubt in his heart,
But believes that those things he says will be done,
He will have whatever he says.
Mark 11:23 NKJ
For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
Luke 6:45 NKJ
Words Are Creative
In Genesis 1 God said 10 times and the world was created.
James 3 compares the tongue with the rudder of a ship.
Our words determine our destination.
A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth;
From the produce of his lips he shall be filled.
Death and life and in the power of the tongue …
Proverbs 18:20-21 NKJ
A man has joy by the answer of his mouth,
And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!
Proverbs 15:23 NKJ
You are snared by the words of your mouth;
You are taken by the words of your mouth.
Proverbs 6:2 NKJ
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
Psalms 19:14 NKJ
