"For whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?  And how can they hear without a preacher?  And how can they preach unless they are sent?

Romans 10:13-15

Fighting for Freedom

Fighting for Freedom

By: Calvin and Barbara Scott

Romans 8:12 declares, “…the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” But in I Timothy 6:12 the word tells us to fight the good fight of faith. While positionally we are free in Christ, we must fight the flesh and the Devil to live in that freedom. Nevertheless it is a good fight because when we fight by the Spirit, we win.

I Corinthians 10:4 tells us that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God. James 4:7 says that when we resist the devil he will flee! Like Jesus, when He was tempted in the wilderness, we need to respond, it is written. There is power when we speak the Word of God.

In Colossians 2:9-15 you will find that the strength of our warfare against Satan came through what Jesus did on the cross. He disarmed principalities and powers, triumphing over them.

Positionally we have been seated with Christ in heavenly places where He is seated far above all principality and power and might and dominion.

It is important to stay focused like Paul in Philippians 3:13-14. Let’s forget the things behind us and press toward the prize of the high calling.

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set you mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
Colossians 3:1-3
