Forgive?

Forgive?

By Becky Melendez

Mark 11:25-26 And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Text Box: There is an old but true saying: You become like the person you hate the most. A good way to begin every morning is, resolving to walk in instant forgiveness towards your fellow man especially your brothers and sisters in Christ. Galatians 6:10 As we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Keep in mind that negative thoughts about someone always come from the enemy and positive, life-giving, up-building thoughts toward someone always come from the Holy Spirit. (The Lord will sometimes show you something bad about someone so you can pray for them or for your safety or the safety of others.) Ask the Lord to remind you to think positive every time your mind starts to be negativeText Box: Satan is always negative, and the Holy Spirit is always positive. or critical of someone. Ask Him to guard your mouth and convict your spirit every time a negative word about someone or a situation starts to come out of your mouth. Revelation 12:10 calls satan the accuser of the brethren. Let’s do our best not to allow the words out of our mouths to sound like the accuser.

Luke 6:37-38 Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiveText Box: Satan accuses and the Comforter (the Holy Spirit) comforts. n.  Give, and it will be given to you.  A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.  For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. In Exodus 20:5 we are told that the sins of the fathers are visited upon the children to the third and forth generation.  If you see recurring patterns of negative things happening in your life or in the lives of your loved ones it may be because of unforgivness towards someone in your family or any person who impacted you in a negative way. Choosing not to forgive gives satan the legal right to come in and mess with your life. If there are areas where negative or unjust things are repeatedly happening to you, or if you are unable to love someone as you should, say, “Holy Spirit, show me if I have unfairly judged or not forgiven someone.”Text Box: Holding on to hurts is like giving satan a key to your house.

Something may have happened to you as a small child, but, He will bring to your remembrance who needs to be forgiven and then you must say, “I choose to forgive that person in Jesus name”, and keep saying it until it happens. If negative things keep happening in your life, let go of all the bitterness, anger, or hurt buried deep in your heart.  Isaiah 61:1 says The Lord has come to set the captives free, and to heal the brokenhearted. Allow the Comforter to come into your heart and take out all the hurt, all the pain, and all the disappointment. You may have been hurt so severely that without the help of the Holy Spirit you can’t forgive. So allow yourself to be saturated in His presence. Submit yourself completely to Him and allow Him to take away all the pain. This will keep satan from being able to pass your problems on to your loved ones.
