Voices in the Land
A message for Christians
by Calvin Lee Scott
I write these things after years of seeking God for more revelation of
His truth. My heart has always yearned for more of God, and these
yearnings have led me through the themes listed below and many more.
After every “truth hunt”, I always come back to one thing, the
simplicity of God’s Word and it’s never ending, awesome, power to
produce life. Our God can change the course of events with words as
simple as “I AM”. The themes I have listed are not necessarily bad or
evil, but it is wrong to allow them control of your life with
exclusiveness. They should be individual building blocks of knowledge,
not any one theme, the full foundation or the whole house.

Oh Lord, How can I Know?
Many people ask, “Where do I go? Where do I turn? Who do I listen to?
Which message is for me?“ There are so many messages today. So many of
them sound like they are from God.
I encourage you to seek out those men and women of God, who have proven
themselves down through the years and are still standing firm on the
solid foundational teachings of God’s Word. Those who are bearing the
fruit of God’s Word, which is the winning of souls, and the building up
of the body of Christ, by doing the ministry of Jesus, and the Name of
Jesus will always be lifted up and glorified. When seeking which
teachers or teachings to follow, always ask yourself, which one is the
most like Jesus in the nature of their ministry. There are many great
men and women of God in the earth today, who can be respected as our
leaders. Ask God to show you ministries who will help you grow up into
Him. Follow them as they follow Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13
Warning Signs of Sectarianism:
Here are some of the most prevalent danger signs to watch for. They
almost always come with the teachings that lead people away from God:
-
The great commission of Jesus will began to take second place to the
sect’s main message.
-
The hierarchy of the order (sect) will make decisions for their
followers rather than letting them hear from God
for themselves.
-
Families will begin to fall apart as one or more follow the sect
teachings and others will not follow.
-
Suppression and control of women and children by sect appointed fathers
or elders, who do not lead with love, but began to drive people out of
the spirit of duty to the teachings of the sect or cult.
-
False teachers will always portray themselves as having the only true
message, or the most mature message from
God, and they will exalt themselves as God’s most perfect order of the
church.
-
Their advancement of revelation will always exalt “their” truth, and
everything else in the church world as substandard, second class, or out
of order.
-
You will hear things from their leaders like, “Well, Paul just didn’t
have a full understanding, or the apostles had their opinions, and I
have mine.”
-
The joy of the Lord and it’s expression, will be replaced by “religious
soberness."
Fear not! There is good news!
There is a true way and a truthful leader you can follow without fear of
deception.
The way is Jesus, who is the Word of God. In John 14:6, Jesus proclaims
to us. “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
In John 1:1-5 we find that Jesus is God’s Word.
In II Timothy 3:16, we find all of His Word is good for doctrine,
reproof, correction, and instruction.
Our teacher is the Holy Spirit. In I John 2:24-29, we find that He will
teach us all things, if we abide in our foundation.
Always remember, the Holy Spirit will use anointed men and women to
teach us all things, if we abide in our foundation. II Corinthians
1:21-22
Yes, there is an order you can safely follow. It starts with getting on
your knees in personal, fervent, prayer, and with washing your mind with
God’s Holy Word. Ephesians 5:26, 6:18, Titus 3:5, Romans 12:2
This order will take you, and keep you, moving in the opposite direction
of the warning signs I’ve listed.
Look at the Fruit
If you will hear your heavenly teacher (the Holy Ghost) and follow His
instructions, you should see these things happening in your life:
-
Your greatest desire will be to obey and follow Jesus’ last and most
important instructions. You will be going and doing exactly what He told
you in Mark 16:15-20.
-
You will make your decisions based on the Word of God and the leading of
His Spirit. Church leaders will act
only as advisors and bring confirmation. Acts 13:2-3.
-
Your family will be strengthened, and you will all flow as one in love.
-
Pastors and fathers will “lead” their churches and families with loving
examples of faith and trust.
-
You will see that God is much too big to use only one man’s order or
teaching.
-
Your advancement of revelation will always cause you to lift and
encourage your brother of less revelation and never criticize him for
having less truth.
-
You will learn from God’s Word without the help of “mans” new ideas, and
you won’t be carried about with every wind of doctrine. Ephesians
4:14-16
