White for Harvest

Dear Fellow Laborer,

Jesus told us in John 4:35 (NKJV) …Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!

Then in Matthew 9:38 NLT He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

This has continually been our prayer and we know that God answers prayer because everywhere we go we see the harvest coming in and new laborers being trained to continue reaping the harvest. Hallelujah!

Harvest Workers

Last month we attended Bob and Miki’s El Shaddai graduates get together.meeting in Navojoa, Sonora for El Shaddai graduates (There’s now over 500). It was an awesome time of worship, teaching, testimonies, and fellowship. We so enjoyed seeing friends we hadn’t seen for a while.

There was also a graduation for the 20th Generation of El Shaddai students – more laborers going into the harvest.

One of the testimonies that was sharEl Shaddai Graduates - 20th Generationed at the meeting was from Alta Gracia Barrón. Two years ago in a remote mountain community, the people were starving as their only income was raising marijuana and the military had burned them out.

Bob decided to take a group of students to minister to them for the weekend. We went to a warehouse and bought a lot of bulk food for tRemote mountain community.hem to distribute.    The people received the team warmly. Since that time, Alta Gracia has continued to go in and minister to the people. Every household in town has now received the Lord and they are only growing food crops now. Praise the Lord!

Harvest Churches

Then we went to Obregón and visited our sister church Vision Familiar and Pastors Gustavo and Ruth Vega. They are growing so much thGustavo and Ruth Vegaat the Sunday after we were there they started having two services to handle all the people.

Next, we went to Aribabi, Sonora, which is 3 hours east of Cumpas in the mountains. We are joining vision with Pastors Patricio and Andrea Pérez in the establishment of a new church. Their land is purchased and their next phase is raising $400.00 for backhoe rent to clear rocks out of the worksite. Approximately 10 years ago, Bro. Tony Terán of Moctezuma guided our Christmas team in where we preached and gave Gospel tracts to many of the town folk. That sowing of God’s Word is now surpassed Patricio and Andrea Pérezby the reaping of souls. Helping establish new churches in virgin territory has to be one of our greatest joys in ministry.

It’s time that we all become treasure hunters. Every person living in darkness is a treasure waiting to be found and brought into the light. Isaiah 45:3 (NKJV)  I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden riches of secret places, That you may know that I, the LORD, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel.

Rejoicing in the Harvest,

Calvin and Barbara

Pastor Obdulia Cantua

All of the material for doing VBS’ in 40 towns for 2800 children has been delivered and most of them will already be over by the time you read this. We will have more pictures for you in the next newsletter.

We took material for 1200 children to Navojoa. Then Felipe Vasquez delivered it to 20 different locations.

To the left you will see VBS material being presented to Pastor Obdulia Cantua in the Mayo pueblo of Tesia and   Pastor Jesús Mendoza in the mountain town of Techobampo, north of Alamos, Sonora.

We had an awesome VBS in Douglas. Eric and Denise Meechan directed it this year. We had over 100 children and 30 workers.

Five gorgeous and talented senoritas came up from Obregón for over two weeks to help with the preparation and the VBS. A special thank you to Mike and Mechelle Shea for hosting them while they were here.

Mitch and Nina Nelson taught the children life applications of God’s Word through Jesus’ parables. There were also dancing, singing, crafts, snacks, and games that all reinforced the lesson of the day.

Our Douglas Youth Drama Team starred in a 5-day progressive mini series on Christian character.
