Faith Ministries

Under the King's Command

February 2008 Newsletter

Dear Partners,

With abundant thanksgiving to the Lord and to our partners we have a good report to share. This year Faith Ministries helped sponsor 15 Christmas teams that went to 103 pueblos and reached 15,000 people with thegood news of the Gospel.

Hallelujah!

The anticipation of the children for the programs is high. They sowant us to come and always have a little fear that we possibly won’t be able to make it, sowhen we drive up they are thrilled and glow with excitement.

In Batopilas the teachers told us that the children start talking about it two months in advance and the day after the program all of the children bring their toys to school.

Last year one remote pueblo we visited for the first time, initially received us with reservation. We were outsiders and the Gospel had never been preached there before. In the end they really liked the program and invited us to return anytime. The road up to their town is the most exciting road  we go on. With narrow hairpin curves it climbs up the side of the steep canyon wall. To tell the truth I was kind of hoping we wouldn’t go there this year – but we did! What a joy it was to arrive and have the teacher tell us that the children had been anxious for the past week, hoping we would come again. Their enthusiasm made it worth the journey.

On the De la Parra’s route the municipal officials had already announced the program and the people were waiting in the plazas when the team arrived. There were record crowds in some of the towns in spite of freezing weather.

Bob and Miki went with Pastor Alberto Ruelas’ team. One day they met one of the De la Torre’s teams coming out of the mountains and later met Jesus Espinosa’s team coming from the opposite direction.

Many of the towns these teams visited are without Gospel works. What a blessing that ambassadors of God’s Kingdom were out sharing the love of Jesus in this region. Praise God! The light of the Gospel is shinning brighter in this corner of the world!

The blessing of prosperity in most US homes allows for a multitude of gifts at Christmas time. These gifts are then added to the excess of fun thingsalready in hand. The opposite is so true in the majority of families we touch with this ministry to the rural areas of Mexico.

No words can describe the smile of a child receiving their only Christmas gift. That smile was made possible by your generosity.

Thank You,

Calvin and Barbara

P. S. This year we need to start buying toys in January and crossing them so if you could send toys or Christmas offerings early it would be wonderful.

Freedom Visits Cuba

Carlos Rodriquez is a pastor in the capital of Chihuahua. When he had open doors to go preach in Cuba, Faith Ministries got in on the blessing of sending him. He had an anointed time in Cuba in December. Although faced with many dangers and troubles, the anointing was powerful. They preached the Gospel and many people were saved, healed and the church there was edified. There was a powerful move of the Spirit in the services and the pastor told Carlos that he had been crying out to God for years to see the Holy Ghost move like this.

Everywhere they went the people flocked to them asking, “Why are you here?”, and they told them the good news of salvation. The Cubans readily received Jesus with great joy. The people have been oppressed for so long; they are ready for spiritual and political freedom. Hallelujah!

Navojoa

Bob and Miki moved back to Navojoa in January after spending the past year and a half on assignment here on the border.

They are thrilled to be home. They are overseeing and teaching  El Shaddai classes in 4 locations. They were already on the run when they arrived.

Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus

Our dear friends and corporate trustees, Norman and Jeanne Gibson of Palmyra PA made the perilous journey with us into Batopilas canyon. For several years Jeanne had been responsible for gathering a large percent of our Christmas toys. She was thrilled to finally get the chance to come down and help with programs and see where her toys are going.
