Focus on Jesus

Dear Friends,

Greetings in the wonderful name of Jesus. We pray God’s blessing will abound and increase in your lives.

As we enter into a new year it is important to set our focus on Jesus and His plans for us, instead of looking at the problems around us. When Jesus called to Peter to come to him on the water, Peter was fine until he began to look at the waves. Fear looks around, but faith always looks up.

Colossians 3:1-2 The Message version tells us, So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides.   Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ--that's where the action is. See things from his perspective.

Jesus is the light of the world, and when we receive Him, we also become lights and share in His glory.  Isaiah 60:1-2 NKJV Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.  For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.

Notice the parallels of good and evil working at the same time. When we’re walking in the glory of God’s Spirit; we recognize this ever increasing, glorious splendor of God’s presence with us. On the other hand, if we watch the world news, the gross darkness spoken of in these scriptures is quite evident. Never-the-less, the nations will be seeing God’s glory through us. Hey guys, these are good times for us. 2012 will certainly include everything in this passage of scripture. But in spite of bad news and bad politics, we are going to shine for Jesus like never before. Yes!

Instead of putting our attention on the darkness, we should get excited about our actual part in all of this, which is over on the glory side of things. Hallelujah! Let’s pray for more of the glory that comes with being full of the Holy Spirit and fire. That turns us on as the light of the Gospel and pushes back the darkness. The only way to dispel the darkness is simply to turn on the light. To see how this works, try it when you enter your bedroom tonight.

From the scripture in Isaiah 61:1-3, we learn that because the Spirit of the Living God lives in us, we, like Jesus are called to preach good tidings to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound, to comfort all who mourn, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that God may be glorified."

Join us in believing for rapid and joyous advancement of God’s Kingdom in 2012.

Shinning for Jesus,

Calvin and Barbara

Community Outreach in the Pueblos

The end of October, Pastor Belen Terán from Casa de Oración in Moctezuma hosted the monthly fellowship / outreach meeting. They had anointed ministers and a music group from Chihuahua. The services were outside on their church property. Lots of the people from the community attended. It was a blessed time for everyone. The church in Moctezuma is growing and doing well. Praise the Lord!

The end of November, Pastors Oscar and Griselda Hoyos from El Buen Pastor in Divisederos hosted the meeting.  The first night they set up in the street in front of their church. In spite of the freezing weather, there was a big crowd. The second night they moved to the community center and even more people came. Then on Sunday morning they had service in the plaza. The church in Divisederos is doing wonderful! They are a church shinning in their town with the light of God and abounding with young people.

At the beginning of 2011, when we hosted a prayer meeting in the Cumpas Mission Station for all of the pastors in the area, the Lord directed Pastor Jesus to change from having fellowship meetings in the different towns to having community outreach revival meetings where all of the churches would participate.  These meetings have truly been awesome. Praise God for divine direction to advance God’s Kingdom in the pueblos.
