Under the King's Command

March 2008 Newsletter

Testimonies

Beans and Rice

Dear Partners,

Choice greetings to all of our dear friends, from all of us here in Faith Ministries.

The Holy Spirit has the ultimate communication network. We can depend on Him to keep us all connected through our love and prayers for one another. It seems worth saying that; if we’re having dropped calls it is certainly not because of any problem on His end of the line. Selah.

This month’s letter to you carries a testimonial theme. It is our intent that these testimonies encourage you as they have us.

A precious old hymn dear to most of us says, “Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings, see what God hath done…

I was recently having my own little personal pity party concerning our many needs and the Holy Ghost interrupted me and said, “Stop thinking about what you don’t have, and focus on what you do have.”

I found this wonderful passage of scripture. Please take note of all the verbs in their command form. Let’s all do our part so He can do His part.

I Chronicles 16:8-15.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord!
Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples!
Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works!
Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!
Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!
Remember His marvelous works which He has done,
His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,
O seed of Israel His servant,
You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!
He is the Lord our God;
His judgments are in all the earth.
Remember His covenant forever,
The word which he commanded,
For a thousand generations.

From this little newsletter message we want you to know that we’re not just counting on you, we’re also counting you as one of our many blessings.

Appreciatively yours,

Calvin & Barbara

Praise God for Seed to Sow

We send aspecial thank you to Dusty and Andrea Dennison, Bryan, Susie, and Brody Shanley, Brad Dennison, and Angus and Kathy Campbellfor bringing 14,000 lbs. of beans and rice, clothes, tools, and a variety of other things from Stanley Union Church in Stanley, NM.

It is like a chain reaction, as many people from Stanley and the Estancia Valley gave to Stanley Union Church, then they gave it to Faith Ministries, now we are giving it to many Mexican churches and ministries, and they will in turn give it to needy people in their communities. It a gift that keeps on giving. Hundreds of people will be blessed throughout the year by this special gift. Praise the Lord!

21 people from our Douglas church helped them unload.  With all the help it went quickly. We all enjoyed a meal together. It was a fun, festive day.

Testimonies

People often share their testimonies. They thrill us and remind us of the power of Jesus. We knew you would enjoy them too!

Psalms 78:5, 7, 35
For He established a testimony… That they might set their hope in God…And they remembered that God was their rock and the Almighty their redeemer.

In January, T.M. went into surgery to remove cancer from his leg for the second time, knowing that they may need to remove his leg. A miracle happened during surgery, and when he came out he not only had his leg, there wasn’t any cancer there.

One year ago Jorge hadn’t ever heard about God. He was adopted by a Christian couple in Tepache and this year he was one of the actors in the Christmas Outreaches portraying the story of Jesus. He is so happy to know that there is a God and that He loves him.

We were in Tepache with a mission team. Ruben saw a man standing outside the church. He felt led to go out and talk to him and ended up praying for him.
Philipe had smoked and been an alcoholic and drug addict for years. When he got up the next morning all of the desire for drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes were gone, much to his surprise and the surprise of his wife. He told his wife, “It feels like everything is new inside.”
That was one year ago and he is still completely free and serving Jesus. And to add to that, he now treats his wife well.

Jose in Villa Hidalgo was healed when he received Jesus. He had serious heart problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, piles, and was so nervous that he would hide from people.
Now he is free and shines with health and the love of Jesus.

C, in Batopilas, was the BEST marijuana grower in the region. He changed bosses and is now sowing God’s Word. He is well known and everyone now recognizes him as a new person in Christ.

Lupe was in severe pain in her hip and she could barely walk. The doctors hadn’t been able to do anything for her other than prescribe strong medication that made her sick.  Her daughter called the church asking for prayer. We prayed over a prayer cloth and sent it to her like Paul in Acts 19:11-12. The minute it touched her hip the pain completely left. Hallelujah!!!

Since Christmas, Pastor Luis Maulas has started working on the ground work and foundation for the new church in Satevó.
He has a lot of children and women coming to his church, but very few men.
Now, the men of this small village are volunteering their trucks and labor to help Luis. (Up to 17 men per day.) All Luis needs to do is buy the gas and pay for materials.
These men will discover that as they are working on this building their hearts will become attached as well.
