Under the King's Command

May 2008 Newsletter

Dear Partners,

Jesus boldly said in Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”

Jesus has never changed! He is still anointed to do the same; however He now works through us, His body! The way he works is still by the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

Sometimes it is easy for us to begin to live our lives by our own efforts instead of being hooked up to the flow of the Spirit and letting Him live through us by His Spirit.

Paul admonished the Galatians in chapter 3:3 “Are ye so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Verse 5, Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?”

I Corinthians 12:31 tells us to earnestly desire the best gifts. In verse 7 it says, “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.” Our Father’s desire is that every believer be used by His Spirit

In I Corinthians 14: 1 Paul goes on to say to desire spiritual gifts but especially that you may prophecy. While the gift of speaking in other tongues enables us to speak to God supernaturally, prophecy and interpretation of tongues enable God to speak to us and through us supernaturally.

Prophetic declaration or action is something said or done in the natural realm at the direction of God, that opens the way for Him to move in the spiritual realm, which then consequently effects change in the natural realm.  Prophetic ministry prepares the way for God to work upon the earth.  It gives voice to the purpose and plan of God.

Isaiah 55:11 declares, “So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Paul instructed us in I Thessalonians 5:19-21, “Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”

Christ's Ambassadors visit the Guarijio Nation

We (Calvin and Barbara) spent the second week of April in Navojoa with Bob and Miki. We taught in the Bible school and visited the Guarijio Indians in Mesa Colorada with some of their students.
The Guarijios live at the end of 53 miles of rough dirt roads up the Mayo River.  We had visited their pueblo 11 years ago and were blessed that they remembered us. There still isn’t an established Christian work there but they were very warm and receptive, and so appreciated our visit. The students presented the Gospel and we distributed beans, rice, candy sacks, and clothing.
Two years ago Bob and Miki took the Christmas program to another Guarijio village that had never heard the Gospel. There had been a curse put on the pueblo and for a long period of time they were barren and couldn’t have children. Bob and Miki and their group prayed and broke the curse and now there is a new crop of children and more on the way.
Praise the Lord the Gospel is being preached in demonstration and power of the Holy Spirit! I Corinthians 2:4
Bob and Miki are doing a wonderful job training people to work in God’s Kingdom.

Not Just a Traditional Holiday -Christmas 08– Evangelism Opportunity

With lots of toys to cross, we are buying and taking toys every time we go into Mexico. There is a local merchant that sells toys to us at half price. What a blessing it is! We are also avoiding buying toys from China this year because legal import duty for things made in China is 500%.  Many of the good quality little cars are now being made in other countries.
We prefer new toys such as match box cars for boys andsmall stuffed animals or dolls for girls, but we will use any toys yousend; even from China. For parcel post carriers mail toys to: Calvin Scott -6787 King’s HWY - Douglas, AZ 85607.
