Tepache for Jesus
The Thing I Want MOST
by Nina Nelson
The one thing I ask of the LORD—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD's perfections and meditating in His Temple. Psalms 27:4 NLT
The one thing I ask… the thing I seek most… is God. Wow! It seems so simple yet this verse has been radically expanding my mind recently. For the last few weeks my prayers to God have been ones of longing, adoration, and desperate love. This verse, written by David to the Lord, is a reflection of a cry from my own heart. I recently was awakened to the fact that the way I was living, the things I was doing, how I was serving was just not enough. My walk with God had been set on a kind of spiritual auto pilot and I was just cruising along doing what I was supposed to do, but never really going above or beyond that.
But in reading the Word and seeing all the great things God did for people, how all hope would seem lost and He would show up on the scene and show His glory all over the place and just blow peoples’ minds, made me hungry for something more. I became hungry for the glory of God. And no, I don’t mean the goose bumps we get in church when the worship or preaching is really kicking it that day. I mean the deep down, all consuming, devil-stomping, tongue-talking, grave-raising, lame-walking, deaf-hearing, doesn’t-care-about-what- anyone-thinks glory of the Almighty God.
I became hungry for the glory that shown out of Moses’ face when he came down from the mountain, the glory that took Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, the glory that commanded Lazarus from the grave.
And in that hunger I looked at my own life of righteous living and became disgusted with how pathetic it really was, I thought it was going great… but in reality… it was all just fluff and no stuff.
We all need to ask ourselves, Why am I doing what I’m doing? If you’re reading this article that means you probably came to church. But why? And if you’re going to church you should be reading your Bible at home, but why do that either? WHY ARE WE DOING WHAT WE’RE DOING? Is it the goose bumps? Is it for the warm fuzzy feelings you get after you go up for prayer? Is it for the pretty girl that sits in the row in front of you? Is it for the music? The food? The people? Or is it because we’re just so hungry for more of the glory of God that we just can’t stand being away from Him or His people.
Before Jesus came, the glory and presence of God lived in the Holy of Holies inside the temple of the Lord, which could only be accessed by the High Priest; but because Jesus came and fulfilled the old law we now have the Holy Spirit which has been given to everyone who believes. David’s request and desire of the Lord was to LIVE there in the temple with Him, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditation in His temple.
What David longed so much for has been given to us through Jesus. Because of Him each of us has an all-access pass to God. My prayer is that we don’t waste that gift. We should be known as extremists, as activists, as radicals: Extreme in seeking, active in serving, and radical in living. Jesus was extreme and if we’re living like Him, we too must be extreme.
Like the sports saying goes, Go big or go home, otherwise you’re just taking up space on the bench. So take a good hard look at yourself and ask, why am I doing what I’m doing? What am I really hungry for? If the answer isn’t the glory of God….we’re just fluff and stuff.

Prophetic Nuggets – More Precious than Gold
There’s a fresh word coming forth from today’s young spirit-filled ministers and you of mature age had better listen up or you’ll miss the next Glory Wave. I’m about to activate the power of My Word in the earth as never before and I’ve prepared this next generation to carry it forth in great power and manifestation.
Don’t be of my children who worry, worry, worry,
The end, the end, the end, they say…
Hold fast, hold fast, hold fast, I say,
For the end is only for those things that wear out with use,
And are ready to pass away.
Man’s kingdom must reap what they have sown
And that is death unto death.
But My Kingdom must also reap what I have sown,
And that is Word unto life.
For My Word was made flesh and sown in the earth,
And reaped unto life and now rules from My throne.
And My Word that you sow must also be reaped
Word unto Life again and again.
For have you not read, My Kingdom has no end.
So rejoice and re-group,
Turn away from bad news and get with my plan,
Go tell all the nations My Word is at hand.
Tepache for Jesus
A s we were entering Tepache, Sonora, the sirens were blaring, and as we made our way to the plaza we came onto a parade of school children wearing white, carrying banners that declared No more violence. We want peace in our homes, in our communities, and in our nation. Some were carrying banners of a white glove d hand to say we want a Mexico with clean hands. This is the voice of the new generation rising up. Praise God!
Five minutes after the parade ended, the revival meetings that Pastors Rodrigo and Olga Susa were hosting started. The town had given permission for the revival to take place in the street between the town hall and the plaza. The street was blocked and to start the meeting the mayor spoke and welcomed all of the visitors to Tepache. Then pastors that were present prayed for the mayor and the community.
After that, awesome music started up. (Everyone knows us Mexicans like good, loud music!) Anyway the street was full, and the plaza was full of people from the community still present. There was an anointed message preached from John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. People were healed, saved, and filled with the Spirit. Glory!
Yet, as we watched the warm welcome the community was giving us, our thoughts returned to 1988 when we first went into Tepache. Bob Scott, Miki Nagel, Betty Hansen, and Pastor Oscar Hoyos went first and show ed a Christian film. The people came and enjoyed it, but then realized that we were Protestants and they didn’t want Protestants in their community! When the next team went in, Bob took Rod McLain and his group from Tulsa, OK. Their services were conducted under severe spiritual warfare as the locals did marches around them chanting curses. Even in the face of that adversity, one whole family came to the Lord that night, and that family is still worshiping with us.
Then, for the next couple of years when we would arrive in town, there would be a group of ladies marching with a big statue; out warning the people against us, the dangerous proselytes coming into their community. I vividly remember children running from us in terror.
Well, we continued to go, bought property, and started building a church and small parsonage. The pastors from Divisederos, Oscar and Griselda Hoyos traveled weekly to Tepache and kept the small group of believers fed and hungry for God. Through the years, there have been many breakthroughs that have brought the church to a place of honor and respect in the community.
In 2006, Rodrigo and Olga Suja, graduates of El Shaddai in Navojoa, came to pastor the church. Rodrigo works part time for the city as an electrician and has made friends with leaders of the community. Today, La Roca de Israel (the Rock of Israel) is one of our most thriving churches.
