Under the King's Command

September 2008 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful…” Psalms 31:23a.

DCalvin and Barbara Scotto not let the picture on this page fool you. Barbara and I both celebrated our 60th birthday this year. We’ve been talking about using a new photo, but we don’t yet have that new fangled computer program that removes wrinkles and blemishes from pictures. Something about trying to remember how long we’ve used this shot put my brain in a historical mode and I found my memory back 23 years ago, waking up in a humble Mexican abode where you could look through the cracks in the wall and watch the neighbors make their drug deals. So much has transpired since then and your faithfulness has been a major player.

Back to the wake up 23 years ago, as I awoke that morning it dawned on me why I had been born. I knew clearly, by spiritual revelation that I was in the right place at the right time and I was to give myself to serving the Lord as a missionary being my principal personal call.

Knowing my personal call at that moment was probably the best feeling I’ve ever had. It was back then that God brought many of our most faithful supporters into our lives and many who started supporting 23 years ago; still send those faithful love gifts. As we have determined to stay faithful to our call, God has surrounded us with faithful people with the same heart for reaching the lost.

Faith Ministries continues to grow because of the faithfulness of both the sender and the goer. Our ministry does not exit apart from our support and supply people.

It is such an honor to work with stable, faithful servants of God. The Lord has always held in esteem and honor those who are faithful to their call. We likewise highly esteem our partners in faith. Be assured your reward is on the increase.

If someone reading this is still looking for your reason for being or your personal purpose in God’s plan, start here, right now, by saying, “Lord here I am. Use me as I am”. Now, find someone needing help and give them an encouraging word or hand. Then continue daily with what you can do and watch it grow into the satisfaction that awaits you, of knowing why you were born. God has a specific place in His Kingdom for each one of us.

He may or may not develop your life’s ministry into a pulpit service, but you should make up your mind right now to work in serving others. No one ever finds peace until they learn to live their life in some form of God’s service of helping people. Remember, start today with what you have and know that God will perform the increase in your capacity to fulfill your personal purpose.

Matthew 24:45-46 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his Lord has made ruler over His household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his Lord shall find him doing so when He comes.”

Maturing Gracefully,

Calvin and Barbara

Question: Is Faith Ministries a children’s ministry?

Answer: We didn’t start out as one or plan to be a children’s ministry, but in review of last year’s record, we presented the Gospel to over 18,000 children through various outreaches. So in respect to numbers reached, we could be considered as one.

Mexico Invaded by Hawaiians

Pastor Kona/Douglas team.Terry Meechan brought a group of six people from our sister church in Kona, HI. Eight of the young people from Faith Ministries Church joined them, as well as thBarbara's famous cooking.e Serrato family and Calvin and Barbara, which made a group of 20.  The teams blended wonderfully with anointed talents of preaching, testifying, signing, dramas, and dances.

Daily prayer time.Sunday morning Pastor Terry and their team ministered in FMC, and then we traveled for 4½ hours through the mountains on dirt roads in a rainstorm to reach Villa Hidalgo where we did a program in the plaza and then played basketball with local teens.

For three hours each morning in the Cumpas city auditorium, we conducted a Campamiento Hawaiiano with songs, dramas, signing, crafts, games, and refreshments. The children loved it! By Friday there were 150 children attending. On FridBallet Folkloricoay night, we had a program for the parents to show them what the children had learned. Ruben finished with a powerful salvation message.

Tuesday night in Moctezuma, Wednesday night in Divisederos, and Thursday night in Teonadepa were wonderful with a powerful, although different, move of the SSigning pirit in each town. Wednesday night because of a storm the electricity went off and Terry preached and Ruben interpreted using flashlights.

Summer VBS’s

Gary the Gorilla leading children in dance.

Everywhere we went we heard sweet testimonies about the VBS’s. Most of the churches have already done them and were thrilled with the attendance and the wonderful time the children had learning the Bible and how awesome it is to serve Jesus.  Thank you for your part in making these outreaches possible. A total of 2,800 children were blessed with these outreachFun and Gameses!
A special thank you to Nina and Sonia Allen and Mitch Nelson for their extra effort resulting in super VBS!
